MAA Appoints Maia Huang Editor of Math Values Blog

The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Maia Huang as the new Editor of Math Values, the MAA's mathematics blog. Math Values explores the diverse voices of the mathematics community, publishing a wide variety of informative articles and regular columns that reflect the Association's values of inclusivity, community, teaching and learning, and communication. Math Values articles are freely available to the mathematics community and the public alike.

Huang is a mathematician based in Chicago. She graduated with honors with a BA in Mathematics from Vassar College in 2024, during which time she also studied at the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden and served as an academic intern in advanced-level college mathematics. Alongside her studies, she created and curated educational materials for the climate change nonprofit SubjectToClimate, and subsequently served as an Exponent Fellow at the National Museum of Mathematics in New York City.

In her role as Editor of Math Values, Huang will collaborate with contributors and the MAA publishing department to develop new, high-quality content alongside well-established columns such as Devlin's Angle, Kung's Quarterly, and Definitely Integral, growing the blog while maintaining the high standards and accessibility for which it has become known.

"I am honored to take on the role of Editor of Math Values," said Huang. "The blog is a wonderful resource that provides a wide range of valuable and thought-provoking content for the mathematics community. I look forward to working with the editorial team and contributors to expand Math Values to engage a broader community of mathematics enthusiasts and lift up younger voices."

"We are delighted to welcome Maia to the position of Math Values editor," said Matthew Salter, MAA Senior Director of Publications. "She brings infectious energy and a passion for science communication to the publication. Her strong connections with early-career mathematicians will bring vitality and fresh ideas to Math Values as it continues to grow and serve our readers."

The MAA welcomes Huang to this leadership position and looks forward to the perspective and energy she will bring to Math Values. Her appointment underscores the Association's commitment to supporting high-quality mathematical communication and inclusive professional engagement.
