The Mathematical Association of America Recognizes 2025 Edyth May Sliffe Award Winners!

WASHINGTON, DC - The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) is proud to announce the winners of the 2025 Edyth May Sliffe Awards for Distinguished Mathematics Teaching in Middle and High School. These awards recognize exceptional middle and high school mathematics teachers who inspire and motivate their students in mathematics through participation in the MAA American Mathematics Competitions (MAA AMC).

Every year, approximately 300,000 middle and high school students from over 5,000 schools around the world participate in the MAA AMC. The MAA AMC develops creative problem-solving skills and exposes students to a side of mathematics not often seen in standard classroom curricula.

More than 240 students, parents, education colleagues, and administrators nominated teachers for these awards for the 2024-2025 cycle. In recognition of their achievements, these MAA AMC teachers will receive a $500 stipend and support to attend MAA MathFest in Boston, MA, from August 5-8, 2026.

Please join us in honoring these 26 inspirational teachers and their dedication to cultivating the next generation of mathematical thinkers.
