The Mathematical Association of America Honors 2024 Edyth May Sliffe Award Winners

Recognizing Outstanding Middle and High School Teachers for Their Dedication to Motivating Students in Mathematics.

WASHINGTON, DC - The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) is proud to announce the winners of the 2024 Edyth May Sliffe Awards for Distinguished Mathematics Teaching in Middle and High School. These awards recognize exceptional middle and high school mathematics teachers who inspire and motivate their students through participation in the MAA American Mathematics Competitions (MAA AMC).

Every year, approximately 300,000 middle and high school students from over 5,000 schools around the world participate in the MAA AMC. The MAA AMC increases interest in mathematics and develops analytical problem-solving skills through participation in a challenging, dynamic competition.

This year, the MAA received one of the largest groups of nominations in the history of the award, highlighting the community’s appreciation for the teachers who make the MAA AMC possible for students. Twenty-nine teachers were selected to receive the prestigious Sliffe Award for their dedication to encouraging students to engage with mathematics and strive for academic excellence.
