
The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) is excited to announce Dr. Ami Radunskaya as the 2026 winner of the T. Christine Stevens Award for Leadership Development.
T. Christine Stevens Award for Leadership Development
The MAA T. Christine Stevens Award for Leadership Development honors individuals who have performed significant, sustained work to cultivate and strengthen leadership skills within the mathematical sciences. Named in honor of Project NExT’s co-founder, the award recognizes contributions that build professional capacity across the full range of mathematical activities.
About This Year’s Recipient
Dr. Radunskaya is the Lingurn H. Burkhead Professor of Mathematics at Pomona College and has dedicated her career to mentoring and developing future leaders in mathematics. She has supervised scores of undergraduate theses, guided students in research and graduate study, and fostered leadership at both Pomona College and national professional organizations.
Her decades-long involvement with Enhancing Diversity in Graduate Education (EDGE), where she currently serves as President of the EDGE Foundation, has impacted hundreds of women mathematicians. Many EDGE alumni now hold leadership positions in national societies and major initiatives, reflecting Dr. Radunskaya’s lasting influence. She has also advanced leadership development through her service as President of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM), promoting mentorship networks, community-building, and collaborative initiatives across the profession.
Dr. Radunskaya’s outstanding record of mentorship, program-building, and service exemplifies the spirit of the T. Christine Stevens Award. Her work continues to cultivate leaders whose impact strengthens the mathematical community at all levels.
