The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) will proudly welcome Dr. Audrey Malagon as the new Senior Director for Programs beginning January 15, 2024. Currently serving as Professor and Chair of the Mathematics Department at Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, VA, Dr. Malagon is an innovative leader with a proven track record working with academic, non-profit, and government professionals.
In her new role, Dr. Malagon will bring her extensive experience in launching effective initiatives and increasing organizational influence to further enhance MAA's mission of advancing the understanding of mathematics and its impact on society. Dr. Malagon will lead and oversee MAA’s robust portfolio of externally funded Programs and Services, MAA Project NExT, and MAA American Mathematics Competitions (MAA AMC).
An advocate for equity in mathematics, Dr. Malagon's multifaceted expertise will contribute to the MAA's commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the mathematical community.
