2022 MAA Inclusivity Award Goes to Honorable Mathematician

WASHINGTON, DC (July 28, 2022) – The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) is pleased to recognize Candice Price with its 2022 Inclusivity Award.

In 2019, MAA launched the Inclusivity Award in recognition of the importance of its core value of Inclusivity in building a healthy, vibrant mathematical community where all are welcome and encouraged to flourish. 

About Award Winner

Candice Price was born in Long Beach, CA and raised in Sacramento. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from California State University, Chico, her Masters’ in Mathematics from San Francisco State University and her Doctorate from the University of Iowa. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Smith College. Her research area is primarily in DNA Topology and is currently working in various areas of Mathematical Modeling. She is the Director of the MAA Tensor-SUMMA program, a co-director of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute-Undergraduate Program (MSRI-UP), a co-founder of the website Mathematically Gifted and Black, as well as the co-founder and co-CEO of 619 Wreath Publishing LLC.

“My ever-loving service mission is to create and contribute to programs that broaden the participation of groups that have been historically and systematically excluded from Mathematics by focusing on strong mentoring and research networks,” Candice Price stated.
