How to Inflate a Discrete Balloon
Polyhedra have been subjects of intense study and investigation for millennia, but there are still many surprises, puzzles, and open questions to be investigated. Even what we mean by a polyhedron has changed over time, and continues to evolve. In this talk we will explore the role convexity has played in the historical development of the study of polyhedra and polytopes (their generalizations to higher dimensions), as well as the challenges posed by allowing polyhedra to be non-convex.
