Generative AI and Mathematics Education Convening
The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) will host a two-day Generative AI Convening at MAA Headquarters in Washington, DC on June 15–16, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM ET each day.
This in-person convening will bring together experienced practitioners and researchers to examine the role of Generative AI in postsecondary mathematics education. Participants will share classroom observations, present early research findings, and identify priority areas to inform future research and institutional guidance.
How to Apply
Applicants will be asked to describe their experience with and interest in Generative AI, including current and planned use in mathematics classrooms.

Discussion Topics
Invited participants will be organized into four focused groups, each addressing a distinct topic:
- GenAI in Teaching Mathematics
- GenAI in Learning Mathematics
- GenAI in Assessing Mathematical Knowledge
- Curriculum Modifications Necessitated by GenAI
Selected participants will have their travel and hotel expenses covered by the MAA.
