Join Colleagues on the Hill: January 8, 2026
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, mathematical professional societies are joining together on Capitol Hill for a unique opportunity to meet with congressional offices and communicate the importance of the mathematical sciences! Together, we’ll highlight how federal policies impact our community and the broader STEM ecosystem. Deadline to sign up is December 9, 2025
All JMM attendees are invited to participate — no prior experience needed. You’ll receive training, briefing materials, and group meeting assignments to ensure you are prepared and feel confident.
The MAA recognizes the need for sustained federal funding for mathematics research and education and joins in collective advocacy efforts to support this funding. Ongoing efforts to diminish federal support for STEM research and education threaten to undercut our nation's leadership across all STEM sectors and negatively impact MAA’s community.
MAA's central role in supporting the undergraduate program in mathematics has long been aligned with the NSF Division of Undergraduate Education’s goals to improve the quality of teaching & learning in mathematics. Today, efforts are underway to severely diminish, if not eliminate, NSF support for these critical activities.
Help us advocate for continued funding of vital research and education! On this page, you'll find information and tools to reach out to your elected representatives and help us make a case for sustaining the role of NSF in improving STEM education.
