Game Theory Applied to Semantics
Three philosophers and one mathematician are working together to use game theory to analyze communication and how it acquires meaning.
Elliott Wagner (Kansas State University), Simon Hutteggar, Brian Skyrms (both University of California, Irvine), and Pierre Tarres (University of Toulouse) are using evolutionary game theory models to understand how words and actions acquire meaning through natural processes, whether through biological evolution, social learning, or other adaptive processes.
The researchers' latest work appears in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
