MAA Tribute to Martin Gardner
| Longtime, acclaimed mathematics and science writer Martin Gardner, who introduced readers to the joys of recreational mathematics and bedeviled cranks and pseudoscientists, died in 2010. In celebration of his life, his work, and his impact on so many, the Mathematical Association of America has gathered relevant articles, interviews, and photos on one page. Explore the left-hand column of this page for more about Gardner, his award winning articles, and tributes in his honor in the issues of MAA FOCUS and Math Horizons.
The Mathematical Association of America and ThinkFun will be hosting an evening of brief talks and hands-on fun with logic puzzles to help celebrate Martin Gardner’s work and continue his pursuit of a playful approach to mathematics. The event will be held in the MAA Carriage House on October 21, 2011, which would have been Gardner's 97th birthday. Space is limited. A list of speakers and exhibits, as well as RSVP information, is available here. "Martin Gardner's Celebration of Mind" is part of a global celebration of Martin Gardner.
