About the Authors: (from The College Mathematics Journal, Vol. 14, No. 3, (1983)) Ruma Falk teaches at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem in the Department of Psychology and in The School of Social Work. She received her Ph.D. from The Hebrew University for a thesis on “The Perception of Randomness.” Her research interests are in probabilistic thinking in children and adults. Dr. Falk spent the academic year 1979/80 at Decision Research in Eugene, Oregon, where most of this paper was written.

Maya Bar-Hillel is a psychologist at The Hebrew University. She has written on philosophical, psychological, mathematical and educational aspects of probability and induction.
