The Canadian Society for the History and Philosophy of Mathematics was founded in 1974 and has met annually since then. Beginning in 1988, proceedings of the annual meeting began to be printed and distributed to members, but this is the first volume of proceedings of the CSHPM to be officially published. It contains articles based on talks given at the 2014 meeting in St. Catherines, Ontario. As is standard for modern publications from Springer and Birkhäuser, it is available both in print and in electronic format; it is also possible to buy individual chapters in electronic form.

As often happens in proceedings volumes, many of the articles are offshoots of more extensive work to be published elsewhere. Nevertheless, anyone interested in history and/or philosophy of mathematics is likely to find something worth reading here.

Fernando Q. Gouvêa is Carter Professor of Mathematics at Colby College. He has been a member of CSHPM for some twenty years.
