A First Course in Differential Equations

See our review of the second edition. The fundamental approach is unchanged, but the author has made many small improvements. “Some topics have been rewritten and rearranged. I made the effort to introduce an easier-to-read format and highlight important examples.” (p. ix)

There is an alarming typo in the Preface, where \(x=x(t)\) appears instead of \(x'=x(t)\), but the primes seem to be in place in the text itself. Errata and solutions to the even-numbered problems are available at the author’s web site, http://www.math.unl.edu/~jlogan1.
