MAA Represented at White House Science Fair
On October 18, 2010, President Obama hosted the White House Science Fair to celebrate the winners of a broad range of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics competitions. Honored alongside the nation's best and brightest students was Ben Gunby, gold medalist at the2010 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Kazakhstan.

Martin Gardner's Celebration of Mind
MAAandThinkFunhosted a reception to celebrate Gardner's work and continue his pursuit of a playful approach to mathematics, science, art, magic, literature, philosophy, and puzzles.

Underwood Dudley's A Guide to Elementary Number Theory, Andrew Simoson's Voltaire's Riddle, and Sergiy Klymchuk's Counterexamples in Calculus made Choice magazine's prestigious list of outstanding books.

Carved Math
MAA's Kerry Sullivan carved another pumpkin masterpiece to celebrate the season. MAA members sent in their own mathematical carvings to add to our gallery.

Advance Registration for JMM is December 15, 2010
This is the advanced registration deadline for Joint Meetings, Short Courses, MAA Minicourses, and Banquets.

Application Deadlines for the MAA Grant Programs

Deadlines for the MAA grant programs are approaching. Please check Dolciani Mathematics Enrichment Grants, Women in Math and Underrepresented Minorities in Math (Applications due February 12, 2011), as well as National Research Experience for Undergraduates Program (Applications due February 25, 2011) for application details.

The 2010 AMC 8 Competition for Middle School Students is November 16, 2010
