Sierpinski Triangle in Snow

British map-maker Simon Beck stomps mathematical patterns—the Koch curve snowflake, the Sierpinski triangle, variations on the Mandlebrot set—onto the surfaces of frozen lakes, creating immense—some as large as 10 soccer fields—works of snow art.

Beck cites James Gleick’s Chaos: Making a New Science as his inspiration and says that all the walking required by his art keeps him in shape.
