NFL Prospect Pursues Math Career
Penn State football's starting right guard John C. Urschel not only finished his undergraduate math degree in three years with a 4.0 grade point average; he also holds a master's degree, has published research in a scholarly journal, and plans to pursue a Ph.D.
Urschel, who now teaches undergraduate math classes at Penn State (in addition to playing football), is currently working toward a second master's degree, this one in math education.
He says:
I feel bad for kids who go through the math system and really miss out on the beauty of math.
