Do Math More Like Maryam, Says Jo Boaler

Writing for The Telegraph, Stanford's Jo Boaler uses the occasion of her colleague Maryam Mirzakhani's Fields Medal win to critique mathematics education in Britain and call for revolution.

Boaler writes:

Maryam Mirzakhani is an inspiration, and my greatest hope is that her example will reverse the tide, reminding us all that girls have the potential to be mathematics stars, and also that such achievement comes from the opportunity to explore mathematics in depth, not by rote.
