Email: boukai@math.iupui.edu

Dates of Program: June 20 - June 29, 2005

Summary: The IUPUI 2005 Undergraduate Research Program in the Mathematical Sciences will provide research experience for four students under the mentorship of several IUPUI faculty mentors. A daily seminar will serve to equip the students with a basic foundation for research on a selection of projects, including base representation of Gaussian integers, random walks on a circular lattice, isogonal and isotomic maps for triangles, and minimization of flight time in wind. At the end of the program, each student will have the opportunity to present results in both campus-wide and departmental symposiums. The mathematical research component will be supplemented by a selection of workshops aimed at developing general research skills as well as a variety of field trips to places of interest in and around Indianapolis.
