Student Programs

The MAA encourages students' interest in a mathematical career with a host of programs and services, including discounted student memberships, extensive online career services, Student Chapters, and Math Horizons-a magazine especially for undergraduates. Discounted registration and travel grants for the national meetings give students an early introduction to the profession and to leaders in the field. Poster and paper sessions at the national meetings offer an opportunity for students to present their work to their peers and professional mathematicians from around the world, as well as receive valuable feedback from a panel of judges. The MAA sponsors Regional Undergraduate Mathematics (REU) Conferences and many MAA Sections provide special sessions for students at their meetings. The National REU program provides summer research experiences to students, primarily from underrepresented populations, early in their college years.
